5 Things You Didn’t Know About Manny Pacquiao

Just because boxer Manny Pacquiao isn’t a household name in North America doesn’t mean that he’s not popular elsewhere. As a matter of fact, Manny Pacquiao is one of the most popular people in the world.

He’s virtually a god in the Philippines, as he appears everywhere in Filipino pop culture, from the music scene to TV and movies. Manny Pacquiao is also known well in Mexico, as he’s left a graveyard of Mexican boxing greats in his trail -- enough to earn him the nickname “The Mexicutioner.”

As he continues to destroy everything in his path, it is beginning to look like Manny Pacquiao may not only be one of the best of his generation; he may in fact be one of the best of all time.

When Pacquiao knocked out Ricky Hatton in the second round of their fight on Saturday, May 2, he became the first boxer ever to win a lineal title in four lineal divisions.

Spend Valentine's Day Solo Style

While all your friends complain about having to buy gifts for their girlfriends (or about having no gift ideas in mind) on Valentine's Day, do you wish you had someone to buy gifts for -- or at least someone to buy gifts for you? Yes, Valentine's Day is the day of love, romance and passion, but that doesn't mean that you don't deserve to make the day memorable.

Even if you won't be receiving chocolates or other goodies, there are plenty of ways to spend Valentine's Day if you're single and still want to have a good time. You don't have to resort to calling an ex-girlfriend to feel "normal" on this day (and if you do call her, you'll likely end up with booty-call remorse). Use this day for lovers to treat yourself to something good.

Valentine's Day: 5 Things You Didn't Know

Actually, Valentine’s Day used to be a celebration back when the Romans welcomed the spring with Lupercalia, but today the better term is “burden,” and not just for men but for women too. Expectations run high, and we scramble to meet them by burning about $17 billion. What do we spend all this money on? Cards we don't keep, flowers that don't last, and candy we could do without, that’s what. These ephemeral Valentine’s Day gifts amount to superficial grandstanding, and any time social convention presses on one half of a couple to do something for the other half, you can bet that whatever is done will be in the wrong spirit and will inevitably lead to the kind of resentment that poisons a relationship.
