Spend Valentine's Day Solo Style

While all your friends complain about having to buy gifts for their girlfriends (or about having no gift ideas in mind) on Valentine's Day, do you wish you had someone to buy gifts for -- or at least someone to buy gifts for you? Yes, Valentine's Day is the day of love, romance and passion, but that doesn't mean that you don't deserve to make the day memorable.

Even if you won't be receiving chocolates or other goodies, there are plenty of ways to spend Valentine's Day if you're single and still want to have a good time. You don't have to resort to calling an ex-girlfriend to feel "normal" on this day (and if you do call her, you'll likely end up with booty-call remorse). Use this day for lovers to treat yourself to something good.

Valentine's Day: 5 Things You Didn't Know

Actually, Valentine’s Day used to be a celebration back when the Romans welcomed the spring with Lupercalia, but today the better term is “burden,” and not just for men but for women too. Cards we don't keep, flowers that don't last, and candy we could do without, that’s what. These ephemeral Valentine’s Day gifts amount to superficial grandstanding, and any time social convention presses on one half of a couple to do something for the other half, you can bet that whatever is done will be in the wrong spirit and will inevitably lead to the kind of resentment that poisons a relationship.
